How to Setup the EL-SIE-1 Digital Fridge Thermometer

The EL-SIE-1 digital fridge thermometer enables you to take temperature readings, record temperatures at user-selected intervals, and set alarms for when temperatures breaches occur. One of the most popular uses for the EL-SIE-1 is to monitor fridge temperatures.

How to Setup and Connect the EL-SIE-1 Digital Fridge Thermometer to a Computer

You will need;

  • 1 x EL-SIE-1 Digital Fridge Thermometer
  • 1 x Type A to Type C USB cable (included)
  • 2 x AAA Batteries (included)
  • 1 x small screwdriver; and
  • 1 x computer.
  1. To get started, install the included batteries. Use the screwdriver to loosen the screws on the end of the device then, remove the end cap.
  2. Install the two AAA batteries, observing the polarity.
  3. Replace the endcap and tighten the screws carefully until secure. The device will automatically turn on.
  4. When the device is on, connect to your computer via the USB-A to USB-C cable (included).
  5. On your computer, open a web browser and type http://EasyLog.local into the address bar.
  6. You will see the EL-SIE page loading. While this happens, save the address to your favourites or bookmark it for later use.
  7. Once the EL-SIE page has loaded, there are three selections on the main screen. These are:
    1. Quickstart; Clicking here allows you to use the current settings and start logging.
    2. Custom setup; Here, you can configure all the settings and start the logger or import settings.
    3. View/Save data; This enables you to save data from the logger, view the dashboard, view recordings in a graph, and log events.
  8. For the first time setting up the device, select "Custom Setup."
  9. The first screen is to configure data logger settings. On this screen select;
    1. A name for the device.
    2.  sample collection rate. Select in the drop-down list a rate of temperature data collection—select intervals from 10 seconds up to 24 hours.
    3. LED indicator selections. These are the alarm indicating LEDs on the EL-SIE-1. Select between; disable the LED, LED always flashing, remain on or, flash only when alarming.
    4. LCD Screen Settings. Select between always on or on at a button press. For battery life conservation, we recommend selecting the button press option.
  10. Select Next.
  11. This page is a group of selections for the device's channel settings. Select;
    1. The temperature scale between Celsius, Fahrenheit, or Kelvin.
    2. High and low alarms. Pressing the orange button 'ENABLE' will turn the on the alarms on and allow the parameters to be selected. For the high and low alarm, you can set the threshold, turn hold on or off, select a trigger type and delay if needed.
  12. The last screen is the start settings. Here you can select how and when you would like the device to start recording temperature. Depending on your selection on this screen, the 'Next steps' will automatically update at the bottom of the screen.
  13. The digital fridge thermometer is ready to be installed into your desired fridge or coolroom.
  14. At any time, you can look at the bright, crisp digital screen to view the current fridge temperature. For a comprehensive overview of collected temperatures, plug the logger back into a computer, open the Easylog.Local dashboard then navigate to View/Save Data.
